Dear Mr. Pierce (Venice Chamber of Commerce)
My wife and I own a condominium in a high rise on the beach on Venice Island which is our winter vacation home. Last April we contracted with a Venice based company (Company 'X') to remodel our kitchen.
Two of the ground rules were that the work could not be started before May 1st of the off-season, and that it must be completed before we returned with the family for the Thanksgiving holidays.
We were promised by the Company 'X' owner that the work would be done within two months. Me immediately breached rule one by starting the demolition in late April thereby angering my condo neighbors in our absence. He stopped and later completed the demolition. But as July came and went, Company 'X' could not get the necessary permits to start the remodeling.
J2 Solutions was then brought in to salvage the job. We hired them in August, and it took them about a month to unravel the mess and get the job seriously going in September. J2 hired responsible plumbing, electrical and carpenter contractors who completed the job within two months.
The work was completed as per code with the Town of Venice building inspectors approval and without anymore complaints from our condo neighbors.
In addition, they recommended a designer who assisted us with the tile selection and walls colors at a very reasonable price.
Because J2 came into the job at mid-stream when we needed to have the job finished, they could have charged us almost any amount and we would have agreed, just to get the job done on time. However they charged what seemed reasonable and fair, and we had no problems with their billings.
Since we live in Connecticut, we could not personally check on the work in progress. We had to rely on J2 to give us progress reports by email and phone. From the time we hired them, we received weekly and sometimes, when necessary, daily status reports from them. They seemed to genuinely care about our problem and did everything they could to get the job done on time, meeting all code enforcement requirements and giving us the modern kitchen we wanted.
We would recommend J2 to anyone who wants skillful work done by people who know how to work with the local code enforcement officials, who advise you of the work in progress, who listen to what you want done, who complete the work to your satisfaction, who charge fairly and who, when they are finished, that you for letting them do your job.
For the above reasons J2 was a fortunate find this year and we without reservation recommend them for the business of the month award.
